Laura Halliwell Kochis, 92, Of Easton, Former Pepperidge Farm Employe

EASTON, Conn. -- Laura Halliwell Kochis, of Easton, died on Friday, April 10, after a long illness. She was 92.

She was born in Hartford to Frank S. Brainard and Beatrice Peabody Brainard, on Sept. 10, 1923.

Kochis graduated from Weaver High School and later attended Hartford College for Women, where she studied accounting and secretarial skills.She married Thomas Dean Halliwell in 1943. 

After World War II, they moved to Fairfield and finally settled in Easton in 1956.

Her husband died in 1970/

She married James Kochis of Trumbull in 1977 and resided in Easton until his death in 2005.

She was employed by Pepperidge Farm in Westport before she became secretary to the Easton Selectman's Office. 

Kochis is survived by her four children, Thomas D Halliwell, Jr., of Foster, R.I.; Susan (Ron) Howard, of Virginia Beach, Va.; David D. (Susan) Halliwell, of Monroe; and Anndean Kmetz (Sandra Zawada), of Killingworth, ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. 

Calling hours will be Thursday, April 16, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Spadaccino's Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike in Monroe.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 17, at Christ's Church, Episcopal in Easton, followed by burial at Aspetuck Cemetery in Easton.

The family is requesting that donations be made to the CT Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
