Mende was born Sept. 26, 1925, in Dublin, Ireland. She immigrated to the United States with her family as a child. She was a 1944 graduate of St. James High School in Newark, N.J. She worked for 18 years as a title searcher for the U.S. Title Insurance Co. in Newark, N.J., and later, after her marriage, as a secretary in the local high school in West Caldwell, N.J.
Mende is survived by her daughter, Elaine Rita Mende Beloblosky (Alexander); two grandchildren; brother, Francis (Marilyn) Dunne of Metuchen, N.J.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph O. Mende.
Calling hours Saturday, Oct. 11 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St., Bridgeport (on the Trumbull line). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Oct. 11 at 11 a.m. in St. Jude Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, followed by interment in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield.
