HILSBOROUGH, N.C. - Mary Louise Monroe, formerly of Weston, died June 12. She was 81.
Monroe was born March 18, 1932, in Elizabeth, La., to Alma and Louis Mills Sr. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a Masters of Education from Louisiana State University. Prior to graduating from LSU, she married and lived in Baton Rouge, Caracas, Venezuela and Weston. She was a financial planner managing investment accounts for a number of clients.
Monroe is survived by her daughter Vicki (Peter Boehm); sons Lee (Christi), David and Gary (Carelyn); and six grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; and brother Louis “Buddy” Cunningham.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 17 at Chapel of the Cross, 304 E. Franklin Street, Chapel Hill, N.C.
A memorial service will be held in Weston, at a place and time still to be determined.
