Roger N. Eichinger, 93, Easton Resident

WESTON, Conn. -- Roger N. Eichinger, 93, of Easton, passed away on Aug. 14 in St. Vincent's Medical Center.

Roger was born in Bridgeport and was the son of the late Bohumil and Mary Eichinger. He graduated from Warren Harding High School, where he was a member of the swim team and his love for the water grew. His exposure to the water continued while in the US Navy during WWII.

Not all of his experiences while in the Navy were good, however, as his first ship was sunk on way to Murmansk. He was then put on the landing craft for the invasions of North Africa, Anzio and D-Day. Since Roger knew how to weld, he was ordered to go to the middle of Algeria to weld Patton's tanks. He then returned home to operate a plumbing business, B. Eichiner and Son, for over fifty years. Roger was an avid horseman and loved polka dancing. Roger was a devote Catholic and always looked forward to attending mass.

He was single throughout his life but was devoted to supporting his family members. Roger is survived by his nephew, Eugene Tompkins and Adeline of Pennsylvania.
