To the editor:

It’s official. Our last child graduated from Weston High School and has left the nest.

We find ourselves now among the many residents who came to Weston in large part for our excellent schools with no children in our home. But we have found so many other reasons to stay in Weston, and would like to give back to the schools and community that have given us so much.

One of the issues I hear from many residents is the need for more housing options for seniors. Many residents would love to stay in town to maintain lifelong friendships and take advantage of its natural beauty and special character, but feel that a large house with 2 acres is not practical to maintain. There is a desire for alternatives.

One of my goals as a Selectman is to address this need for more housing options. I think a community discussion on how to achieve that without changing the character of our town would be very useful.

If elected, my running mate, Nina Daniel, and I commit to having that discussion and, if the community is in favor, to propose a solution that is consistent with our overall town goals.
