Candee, 66, who grew up in Easton, joined the force straight out of the Navy and spent his last day there Tuesday, the Courier said.
His replacement, who will be the sixth police chief ever in town, is Timothy Shaw, 48, assistant chief at the Stamford Police Department. He will start in the job on July 17. The Easton Police Commission approved the hiring of Shaw, 48, at a salary of $105,000 per year to oversee the 14-member Easton Police Department.
