FAIRFIELD, Conn. - After a search of the area around the Fairfield train station, officers found and arrested a man suspected of sexually assaulting a woman on a New Haven-bound Metro-North train Tuesday morning, police said.

Fairfield police said they went to the train station shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday after a passenger called to report that she had been sexually assaulted on the second to last car on the Metro-North train. She described the man as Hispanic, 5 foot 6 inches, heavy-set and wearing all black clothes, police said.

Metro-North stopped the train at the Fairfield station while a search of all the cars was completed, police said. When officers were unable to locate the suspect on the train, they began searching the nearby area and found a man matching the victim's description on the Unquowa Road bridge over the station, police said.

He was detained, arrested and turned over to Metropolitan Transportation Authority police, Fairfield police said.

A spokeswoman for Metro-North said the victim was able to identify the man as her attacker after he was taken into custody.

No information regarding his identity has been released by either the Fairfield or Metro-North police. The charges were not released by police.

Broad River:

He's not an Engineer, he's (was) in a training program. That's not so unusual, you can flip burgers at MickeyD's and clean up the lot and still be in a Management Training Program.
I wonder where he can go from here. Selling tickets from one of those locked booths. Where you stand alone for hours I guess

He was a train employee
