Fallen Tree Blocks One Lane Of Merritt Parkway In Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. -- A tree fell onto the roadway of the Merritt Parkway at about noon Thursday, the state Department of Transportation reported on its website.

The right lane is closed between Exits 41 and 40B on the southbound Merritt. Traffic jams were reported in that area.

"This is exactly why we need to continue to do the work we are doing on the Merritt," Kevin Nursick, DOT spokesman, said in an email about tree-trimming on the Merritt. "This happens all too often on the Merritt - dozens of times a year we have trees falling into the roadway."
