A separate investigation, initially started by the Greenwich Public Schools, now will be conducted by the town of Greenwich Legal Department.

"The legal department will conduct an investigation that has strong objectivity and provides an appropriate level of dedicated professional time," district spokesman Kim Eves said in the statement. "The town's legal department has experience in conducting similar investigations for other departments in an objective and ethical fashion."

Palosz, a sophomore, committed suicide in his home Aug. 27 after his first day of school. The discovery of content on his Google+ account suggests he may have been bullied for an extended period of time.

"This is a comprehensive and complex investigation that spans an extended period of time," Eves added in the statement. "The District is committed to a thoughtful and thorough investigation."
