The Bridgeport Police Department received a call at 1:15 a.m. Saturday about a fight behind Chubby’s Bar & Grill at 3488 Fairfield Ave., said a statement from city spokesman Brett Broesder.

Bridgeport Police, Fire, and AMR – as well as the Fairfield Police – arrived on scene.

The two people involved in the fight had fallen into the water behind the restaurant as a result of their altercation, Broesder said.

The Bridgeport Fire Department recovered one person – a male whose identity was not released – from the water, he said.

The other person involved in the fight fled the scene, Broesder said. Police are actively searching for that person, he said.

No weapons are believed to have been involved with this incident, and there is no connection to the Gathering of the Vibes event this weekend in Bridgeport, he said.

This is an active police investigation, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Bridgeport Police Department at 203-576-1311.
