According to police, Hector Hernandez, of Longview Court, was arrested on a warrant Thursday on a charge of third degree larceny in connection with the alleged theft of at least three brass vases from mausoleums at Riverside Cemetery on Riverside Avenue in Norwalk.

The vases, which were worth $520 each and were specially ordered from Italy, were among the items found from the previous case allegedly involving Hernandez. In that case, Hernandez and an alleged accomplice, Victor Moran of Westchester County, N.Y., were involved in the theft of brass plaques from St. John’s Cemetery and Beth Israel Cemetery on Feb. 26, police said.

The vases did not come from either St. John’s or Beth Israel, but police discovered that they did come from Riverside, which prompted Hernandez’s arrest. As many as 12 similar vases are believed to be missing. The vases were taped but not bolted down in the mausoleums.

Hernandez was released after posting a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court May 17.
