Police were dispatched to Roodner Court on Ely Avenue at 11 p.m. Wednesday on a report of shots fired. When officers arrived, they found three 9-mm shell casings on the sidewalk, according to police reports. Officers also located a Nissan Frontier with its driver's side window shot out, and a black Honda with a bullet hole in the front driver's side door and a bullet hole through the windshield.

Officers spoke with witnesses in the vicinity. One reported seeing a silver car with a New York registration that appeared to be fleeing the area. Police are investigating whether it was involved in the shooting.

Witnesses also reported hearing gunshots about 20 minutes later from nearby Glasser Street, where police also responded. One witness said she heard three or four shots outside her home, and reported that in the morning she found two bullet holes in her living room. Others told officers that they saw a man fleeing the area. Police found five shelling casings on the street.

This was the second night in a row that police responded to reports of shots fired in that area. On Tuesday night, officers went to Roodner Court on a report of several gunshots. One person reported that their car had been shot several times. Police found three bullet holes in the passenger side door and one that punctured a tire.

No injuries were reported in any of the shooting incidents.

Police Chief Thomas Kulhawik said that the department is investigating whether the incidents could be related. He said that based upon the location and timing it would seem plausible, but the department is not restricting itself to one theory at this time.
