Donald Bridgeforth, 28, was charged with disorderly conduct, second-degree criminal mischief and criminal violation of a protective order. He was held on $5,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

Police received a complaint from security personnel for an apartment building on Elmcrest Terrace at 8:30 p.m. Sunday. They told police that a large commotion could be heard coming from one of the apartments, and that a man then came out of the apartment covered in blood and ran out of the building.

Police arrived and knocked on the door but nobody answered. The door was slightly ajar, and blood could be seen on the floor, police said. Police entered and found signs of a disturbance, with several items knocked over and broken, according to police reports.

Police made contact with the 28-year-old female resident of the apartment, who had gone to a neighbor's. She told police that Bridgeforth had been at the apartment, but had left to go smoke PCP, according to police reports. She said that when he returned he seemed fine, but then started throwing himself into the wall before leaving, police said.

Officers located Bridgeforth down the street and said that he had cuts all over him and that his ear was partially torn off. Norwalk EMS took him to the hospital. He denied taking any drugs, according to police reports. Police said that there was a protective order against him, ordering him not to be at the apartment or have contact with the resident. He was then arrested.
