The men are from the Russian region of Chechnya, the Boston Globe reported. The lockdown and manhunt followed a series of events, including a hold-up at a 7-11 convenience store, a carjacking, the shootings of two police officers, one of whom died, and an intense gunfight in Watertown, outside Boston.

The suspects threw explosives out the window of their stolen car at police during a car chase, media reports said.

A third man was taken into custody as well.
