Police: Guns Seized From Redding Home After Suicide Threat

REDDING, Conn. – About 15 firearms were seized from a Redding home after a standoff between police and a man described as “suicidal” last week, according to Redding Police Chief Douglas Fuchs.

Police were called to a North Park Avenue home Monday after receiving reports that a man was threatening to commit suicide, according to the police report. Police also received a report that a gun had been discharged in the home, police said.

Redding Police evacuated a woman from the house and called Danbury’s Emergency Services Unit to help secure the area, according to the report. Fifteen weapons, including handguns, rifles and shotguns, were taken from the house for safekeeping. “They appear to be all legal firearms,” Fuchs said.

The incident is still under investigation.
