Ranjer Gonzalez, 34, was charged with first-degree possession of child pornography and importing child pornography. A $150,000 court-set bond was levied on Gonzalez.
The Stamford Police Department's Digital Forensics Unit, along with the state's attorney's office, conducted an investigation after the forensics unit received information that child pornography were being imported to 101 Greenwich Ave., police said. Officers discovered that numerous images of child pornography were being downloaded at the modem at that location, police said.
On Friday, the digital forensics unit, along with forensics officers from the police departments in Norwalk and Weston, executed a search warrant at the residence. Officers discovered the only modem in the residence was located in Gonzalez's room, police said.
He initially denied the modem was his, but an officer noticed that Gonzalez was trying to hide a laptop computer under the bed, police said. Officers also noticed that a 3-year-old girl was living in the room next to Gonzalez, police said.
The laptop was forensically downloaded and analyzed. Officers from the digital forensics unit discovered over 18 video files and 11,400 images of child pornography on the hard drive of the laptop, police said. Gonzalez gave a statement and admitted that was responsible for downloading the material, police said.
