Staples Teacher Charged With Sexually Assaulting Westport Student

WESTPORT, Conn. -- A 44-year-old math teacher at Staples High School in Westport was arrested Thursday on charges of sexually assaulting a female student through an inappropriate relationship, according to a report from Hearst Connecticut Media Group.

Theron Kissinger, of Southbury, was charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault, according to a press release from the Westport Police Department. He posted $50,000 bond, the Hearst report said. 

The teacher and student conducted an intimate relationship after holding tutoring sessions outside of school, Hearst said. Kissinger has been placed on administrative leave, the report said.
