The residents called police about 4:45 a.m. to report the incident. Officers arrived and found Alan Bucknam, 27, of Stamford at the scene, according to police reports. Police found a knife and a tool used to widen door jambs in Bucknam’s car, police said Monday.
Officers also found loose jewelry inside Bucknam’s car, according to the press release. Investigators are looking into other burglaries that the items may be related to, police said.
Bucknam also appeared intoxicated at the scene, and his blood alcohol content was later tested and found to be over the legal limit, according to the police report. Bucknam does not have a valid driver’s license, police said. A female passenger was also in the car at the time, but she was not charged.
Bucknam was charged with attempted burglary, trespassing, possession of burglary tools, having a weapon in a motor vehicle, driving while intoxicated and driving without a license.
