Two Suspects Arrested In Stamford Home Invasion

STAMFORD, Conn. — Two suspects were arrested in an armed robbery that took place on Friday in Stamford, police said.

According to a news release, three armed males lured a man outside of his Hope Street apartment, assaulted him and forced him to take them into his apartment.

Once in the apartment the suspects demanded cash and jewelry, threatened to kill a 4-month-old girl, searched the apartment and left with cash and jewelry, the release said.

In addition to the victim and his daughter, his wife, and friends were also in the apartment, the release said.

Police were alerted to the incident just before 7 p.m. and arrested a 16-year-old juvenile Friday night and second suspect, Mikel Gjuraj, 22, of 56 Fox Glen Drive in Stamford was arrested Saturday on a warrant, the release said.

Gjuraj did have a valid pistol permit and purchased three pistols five hours before the home invasion, the release said. Police have not yet retrieved the weapons he owns, the release said.

Police also searched am Elm Tree Place residence as part of the investigation and confiscated four handguns found in a trunk of a vehicle there, the release said.

Both suspects were charged with home invasion, first-degree unlawful restraint, first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, risk of injury to a minor, and conspiracy, the release said.

Gjuraj is being held on a $750,000 bond, and the juvenile has been sent to the Bridgeport Juvenile Detention Center, the release said.

The investigation is on-going as a third suspect remains at large, the release said. Anyone with information can call the bureau of criminal investigations at 977-4417.
