Update: Police ID Man In Suspected Suicide At Pitney Bowes In Stamford

UPDATE 4:15 p.m.: STAMFORD, Conn. — The man suspected of jumping out a window at the Pitney Bowes headquarters in Stamford has been identified, police announced Tuesday afternoon.

The man, who worked at Pitney Bowes, was identified as Xavier Tamayo, 43, of Stamford, Lt. Diedrich Hohn said.

The case was still being investigated as a suicide, Hohn said.

Update 1:35 p.m.: STAMFORD, Conn. — Police were investigating an apparent suicide after a man’s body was found at Pitney Bowes headquarters in Stamford on Tuesday morning, Capt. Richard Conklin said.

Police found his body at about 9:15 a.m. under an open window seven or eight floors up, the captain said. The man, who is an employee of Pitney Bowes, was reported missing Monday night by his family, Conklin said.

Nothing appeared to be suspicious, but the investigation was still open, the captain said.

Original: STAMFORD, Conn. -- Police were  investigating a report of a person jumping off the Pitney Bowes building in Stamford, police said Tuesday morning.

Several officers were on the scene and had taped off a section of the outdoor parking lot next to the building and blocked off the lot's entrance.

Pitney Bowes security is keeping people from walking directly by the scene.

The Pitney Bowes world headquarters is located at 1 Elmcroft Road in Stamford.
