Weston Man Charged With DUI, Manslaughter After Fatal Norwalk Crash

NORWALK, Conn. – A Weston man faces manslaughter and driving under the influence charges after a passenger in his car died in a one-car accident on West Rocks Road in Norwalk last month, according to police reports.

Matthew Faillace, 31, of Davis Hill Road, was driving on West Rocks on Sept. 1 when his car struck a curb and left the road, according to accident investigators. The car struck a street sign and a tree before coming to rest in the road, police said.

Both Faillace and a passenger, a 25-year-old Bridgeport resident, were taken to Norwalk Hospital with serious injuries, police said. The passenger died from his injuries on Sept. 5, according to police reports.

Emergency responders smelled alcohol on Faillace’s breath as they pulled him from the car at the accident scene, police said. After an investigation, Norwalk Police filed for a warrant for Faillace’s arrest. He was arrested at his home in Weston early Tuesday, police said.

Faillace was charged with second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle, driving under the influence, traveling too fast for conditions and failure to drive on the right. He was held on $100,000 bond and is due in court on Oct. 31.
