Affordable Housing Debate Continues Over Easton Crossing

EASTON, Conn. – The debate over the Easton Crossing affordable housing proposal continues as the town attorney says that a Connecticut Housing Department employee denied the development meets the requirements of an 8-30g affordable housing set-aside, reports the Easton Courier.

Ira Bloom of Berchem, Moses & Devlin of Milford said he received a call from Michael Santoro saying he based his decision on court cases handling comparability of size and market rate houses, and the affordable accessory apartments, according to the report.

The report state that Matthew Ranelli of Shipman & Goodwin of Hartford, the attorney for the builders of Easton Crossing – Saddle Ridge LLC – said Santoro did not raise any concerns in March about the requirements of the development when he was first contacted.

Ranelli insisted the commission consider the information presented about Easton Crossing and continue moving forward.
