Legislators Look To Expand Westport's Plastic Shopping Bag Ban Across State

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- The Connecticut General Assembly is looking to reintroduce legislation that would ban the use of disposable plastic bags at grocery stores across the state, according to NBC Connecticut.

“They’re such a waste,” state Rep. Jack Hennessy, D-Bridgeport, told NBC Connecticut.

Hennessy told NBC that the discarded bags are an "unsightly nuisance." 

Westport has had regulations in place since 2008 that ban the use of most plastic bags in grocery stores.
