At the top of the ticket, the RTC endorsed First Selectman Thomas Hermann and Selectman Scott Centrella for re-election to the town’s executive board. Hermann and Centrella have held their posts since 2007.
“Tom and Scott have delivered for Easton,” committee Chairman Adam Dunsby wrote on the party’s website. “And with the continued dedication of both town volunteers and employees, Easton remains a wonderful place to live and raise a family.”
Other returning candidates included Treasurer Wendy Bowditch and Tax Collector Christine Calvert. The committee also recommends reappointing Board of Finance members Andrew Kachale and Christian Griffin, Zoning Board of Appeals member Charles W. Lynch, Board of Library Directors member Gail Gay and Region 9 Board of Education member Catherine Gombos and Todd Johnston to their current seats.
New candidates recommended last week include Christine Halloran for town clerk, John Miranda for the Board of Assessment Appeals and Sharon Stemme for the Easton Board of Education. William Lane is also a new candidate for constable, along with repeat candidates George A. Beno, John L. Johnston and Joseph Silhavy.
The full slate of candidates is subject to approval at the Easton Republican Caucus on July 16. Those chosen will go on to the general election on Nov. 5.
All voters registered as Republicans in Easton can show up to cast ballots in the party’s caucus. The caucus will take place starting at 7:30 p.m. July 16 at the Easton Community Center, 364 Sport Hill Road. Residents who plan on voting should plan to bring photo identification.
