The big race in town was for the state Senate, where in the hotly contested District 28, Republican Tony Hwang beat Democrat Kim Fawcett. Hwang also topped Fawcett in the balloting in Easton.

The Senate seat was open because longtime Sen. John McKinney did not run for re-election. The district also includes parts of Fairfield, Easton, Newtown and Westport.

John Shaban, a Republican, won re-election as he ran unopposed for state representative in state House District 135. The district also includes parts of Easton and Redding.

Democrat David Maulsby Smith and Republican Krista Kot were re--elected after running unopposed for registrar of voters in their respective parties for the town of Easton.

All election results are unofficial until certified by the secretary of the state.
