Shaban was among a group of legislators who worked to secure the grant. The money will be used to pay for improvements to meet the requirements of the Americans With Disabilities Act as well as other infrastructure improvements to Weston Library, a press release said.
The grant will cover about half of the total estimated cost of the library project, Shaban. The remaining money needed was bequeathed to the Weston Library by a late Weston resident, according to a press release.
“I would like to thank the state for helping the library in regards to remediation issues as we prepare to make a full renovation to the building,” said Karen Tatarka, Weston's library director, in a press release.
“I am pleased that we were able to secure funds to keep our town library open, fully functional and of continued value to the public,” said Shaban in a press release. “Our libraries are a priceless public resource. In such difficult economic times, I am happy that we were able to secure some return from the state for our district needs.”
