Bowditch received 542 votes, defeating Robert Webbe with 199 votes and Vincent Caprio with 128. Easton has 5,230 registered voters, and 869 voted in the special election.

Bowditch was appointed treasurer by the Board of Selectmen on June 5 after Pat Calvert resigned. She won the special election, which was petitioned by the other candidates, who collected more than 20 signatures to certify the election. Webbe and Caprio said it was important for the treasurer to be elected, not appointed. The selectmen supported Bowditch, calling her a highly qualified candidate. Bowditch is a money market broker at J.M. Lummis & Co. She defeated Caprio, executive director of the NanoBusiness Commercialization Association, and Webbe, an account executive at New Chapter, a nutritional supplement manufacturer in Brattleboro, Vt. With the victory, Bowditch remains as the interim treasurer and will serve until the next election in November 2013.
