The town of Weston includes only state representative for state House District 135. John Shaban, a Republican, is running unopposed for re-election in the district, which also includes parts of Easton and Redding.

Weston is split between two Senate districts.

  • In Senate District 26, Democrat Philip Sharlach is challenging longtime Republican incumbent Toni Boucher. This district also includes parts of New Canaan, Redding, Ridgefield, Westport and Wilton.
  • In the hotly contested District 28, Democrat Kim Fawcett is running against Republican Tony Hwang. The seat is open because longtime Sen. John McKinney is not running for re-election. The district also includes parts of Fairfield, Easton, Newtown and Westport.

Voters will also decide this ballot question:

  • Shall the Weston Charter as amended and restated by the Charter Revision Commission be approved?

The Charter changes were recommended by a Charter Revision Commission and accepted by the Board of Selectmen nearly a year ago.

Some of the changes are minor in wording and others deal with election of chairmen for town boards.

But the changes also deal with the quorum requirement for the Annual Town Budget Meeting. A minimum of 130 people are needed for a quorum and how the voting will commence.

Also on the ballot, Lisa Wexler is running unopposed for re-election as probate judge. Democrat Laura Smit and Republican Theresa Brasco are running unopposed for registrar of voters in their respective parties.

For the U.S. House of Representatives, Democrat incumbent Jim Himes is facing a challenge from Republican Dan Debicella in the 4th District, which stretches across much of Fairfield County.

In the race for governor, Weston residents will join voters statewide in choosing between incumbent Democrat Dannel Malloy and Republican challenger Tom Foley. Other statewide races include lieutenant governor, comptroller, secretary of the state, attorney general and treasurer.
