Greenwich Ranks As 7th Most Expensive Housing Market In U.S.

GREENWICH, Conn. -- If you've been house hunting in Greenwich and feel like nearly everything is out of your price range, don't feel bad. Real estate blog movoto.com recently ranked the town's Riverside neighborhood as the seventh-most expensive ZIP code in the country when it comes to housing.

Movoto analyzed median home value, gross rent, and monthly homeowner costs for over 28,000 ZIP codes to come up with its list of most expensive ZIP codes. 

The Greenwich ZIP code of 06878, which is the Riverside area, earned its No. 7 spot with a median home value of over $1 million, tied for top on the list. The town also had the highest for the highest median rent. Greenwich was ranked lower than neighboring Weston (at No. 6 in the 06883 ZIP code) due to lower average homeowner costs.

The town may have been ranked only seventh, but Greenwich tied with No 1- ranked Palos Verdes Peninsula in California, with both showing home values of over $1 million.

California ZIP codes held the top three spots and six out of the Top 10:

  4. Saddle River, N.J. 
  5. Duarte, Calif. 
  6. Weston, Conn.

  9. Santa Barbara, Calif.
  10. San Jose, Calif.
