Fish continue to fail

Fish fail to win despite Home Run by Luis Lopez

(Bridgeport) – The Bridgeport Bluefish (19-40) were defeated by the Camden Riversharks (21-39), 8-2 in the series opener on Thursday night at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.

Camden scored the first three runs of the game in the top of the second inning on an RBI single by Alex Hudak, an RBI double by Ryan Strieby and on an error by Bluefish catcher Luis Rodriguez who dropped a force out at home to allow Hudak to score. In the top of the third inning the Riversharks added two more runs on one play with an RBI fielder’s choice by Strieby and on an error by Bridgeport second basemen Ramon Castro who dropped a throw on a force attempt, which allowed Jose Julio-Ruiz to score.

The Bluefish then answered with their first two runs of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning on a two run home run to deep left field by Luis Lopez, which also scored Castro. With his third home run of the season, Lopez is now one extra base hit away from tying Oreste Marrero’s all time Bluefish extra base hit record of 199.

Bridgeport’s Tomo Ohka (2-6) suffered the loss going six and two-thirds innings allowing nine hits and eight runs (three earned) with one walk and two strikeouts. Camden starter Jake Hale (5-3) picked up the win going the distance allowing eight hits and two earned runs with no walks and four strikeouts.

Bridgeport and Camden will play game two of their four game series tomorrow night with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Come out to The Ballpark at Harbor Yard to check out all of the promotions and fun the ‘Fish have in store for the 2014 season
