With the help of volunteers and donated materials from Home Depot in Port Chester, Pet Rescue can now care for about 80 more cats.

Pet Rescue volunteer ToniAnn Sanin said that when she asked Home Depot to consider donating materials, “Not only did they say 'yes indeed' but they also volunteered to help build them.”

Trevor Meinke, store manager for Home Depot in Port Chester, said, "The Home Depot takes pride in supporting our community. Giving back and building relationships are a big part of our company's core values."

Fourteen shelters were built from Rubbermaid tubs, lumber and straw -- generously donated by Rosedale Nursery of Hawthorne.

Pet Rescue tries to improve the lives of feral cats by spaying and neutering to keep the population from growing and by fostering and finding homes for the friendliest and most social among them.

Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization founded in 1982, whose mission is to rescue homeless and abused cats and dogs, provide necessary medical care and find them loving, forever homes.
