Guatemalan national from Palisades Park indicted in stabbing of Closter restaurant co-worker

ONLY ON CVP: A grand jury in Hackensack has indicted a Closter Chinese restaurant employee on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with a fight that left a co-worker stabbed in the back.

Antonio Lopez-Tuche, a 34-year-old Guatemalan national living in Palisades Park — remained held in the Bergen County Jail on $75,000 bail, set following his May 13 arrest. Federal officials have requested a detainer for the purposes of a deportation hearing.

The 61-year-old victim was stabbed in the kitchen area of the Ewha Won Restaurant in the shopping center on Piermont Road, authorities told CLIFFVIEW PILOT at the time. He was recovering from his injuries following surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center, they said.

Closter officers found Lopez-Tuche walking along Piermont Road and arrested him a little over two hours after the incident.

The two-count indictment accused him of “attempted serious bodily injury or knowingly causing serious bodily injury to [the victim],” with “manifest indifference to human life,” along with causing or attempting to cause serious bodiy harm with a deadly weapon.
