Suspect Nabbed In Shooting Death Of 44-Year-Old CT Man, Police Say

A Connecticut resident has been charged in the alleged shooting death of another man.

The incident took place in New Haven County around 2 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 4 in the area of 701-703 Campbell Avenue in West Haven.

According to the West Haven Police, officers discovered a man with multiple gun shot wounds and transported him to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The victim has been identified as Hector Dominguez, age 44, of Wet Haven, police said.

A crime scene was established and the West Haven Police Detective Division assumed the investigation.

Following an investigation on Monday, Jan. 5, and after discovering significant evidence, the Detective Division was able to identify the suspect as Eric Johnson, age 32, of New Haven, and a warrant for his arrest was secured.

Later on Monday, Johnson was tracked to New Haven and taken into custody without incident, police said.

He was charged with murder and unlawful discharge and held on a $2 million bond.

"We would like to thank the New Haven Police Department and the State Attorney Office of Milford Judicial District Superior Court for their assistance," the department said.
