Danbury's Wooster School To Perform Neil Simon's 'Fools'

DANBURY, Conn. – Danbury's Wooster School Theatre will perform Neil Simon's comedy fable “Fools” as their fall show.

Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Fridays, Nov. 14 and Nov. 21, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturdays, Nov. 15 and Nov. 22.

The plot of "Fools" concerns a young Russian teacher, Leon Tolchinsky, who enters a village where none of the townspeople speak Russian. Tolchinsky discovers that the town is under a 200-year old curse, where residents become fools after living there for 24 hours. Under the gun, he must teach Sophia, a young villager with whom he has fallen in love, in hopes of breaking the curse and freeing the townspeople.

The play premiered on Broadway in the spring of 1981, and was turned into a musical in 1990.

Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults. Reservations can be made at woosterschool.org/fools, but are limited. The performance is suitable for all ages.
