Wessman Huber has been the school’s acting principal since the beginning of the school year. She moved up from assistant principal when Stephanie Pierson Ugol was promoted last summer.

Redding’s Central Office conducted a search for a full-time replacement last month. But the Board of Education picked Wessman Huber to stay in the leadershil role by a unanimous vote on April 2, according to a press release.

“She has earned a reservoir of trust with parents, teachers, support staff and fellow administrators,” Superintendent Bernard Josefsburg wrote in a press release announcing the decision.

Wessman Huber holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Connecticut, and a doctorate in educational leadership from Central Connecticut State University. Before her role as an administrator she was also a teacher at Redding Elementary.

“In all positions she has filled throughout her career at RES, from teacher to assistant principal to acting principal, she has demonstrated her ability to forge positive relationships through periods of comfortable routine as well as in moments of extraordinary crisis,” Josefsburg added.
