WESTON, Conn. — Members of Weston High School's Circle of Friends club took the Penguin Plunge on Saturday to help raise money for the Connecticut Special Olympics.
Five students and a staff member jumped into the 38-degree waters of Long Island Sound off Westport's Compo Beach.
The club raised more than $1,000, and more than $90,000 total was collected at the plunge, club President Hank Weinstock said.
Weston's football coach, Joe Lato, donated jerseys to the club to wear into the water.
