Staples High School is hosting a free, “highly interactive” workshop at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, where parents can glean techniques for helping their child stay focused in school, complete homework with purpose and crispness, and be more confident overall.

The school is located at 70 North Ave., Westport. The workshop will be held in Classroom 1049.

The workshop is free, but registration is required. To register, click here, then scroll down to Parent Workshop.

Topics to be covered include: key study principles, goal setting, time management, note-taking, active reading, active listening, question generation, using graphic organizers, summarization, and test preparation strategies.

The workshop will be conducted by Successful Study Skills 4 Students (S4) which teaches, it says, logical, easy-to-implement study skills.

According to the S4, 3,000-plus students from more than 40 schools and community venues have participated in its workshops in Connecticut and New York.
