Westport Girls Win Big At Regional Rowing Championships

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. - The Norwalk-based Connecticut Boat Club, the state's leading all-girls rowing team, enjoyed tremendous success at the recent U.S. Rowing Northeast Junior District Championships.

Rowers from Connecticut Boat Club earned five gold medals, one silver medal, and two bronze medals at the U.S. Rowing Northeast Junior District Championships.

Over 395 entries from 35 rowing clubs competed in the event.

As a team, Connecticut Boat Club earned five gold medals, one silver medal, and two bronze medals, earning medals in seven out of the eight events that it entered.

CBC is also announcing open registration for its summer rowing program for experienced and new rowers. The schedule will be the following:

  • June 23-July 3 (Monday to Friday except July 4)
  • July 7- July 18 (Monday to Friday)
  • July 21 – Aug. 1 (Monday to Friday)
  • Aug. 4 – Aug. 15 (Monday to Friday)

Experienced rowers will have camp from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. and will focus on smaller boats: Doubles, Pairs and Fours. Technique, small boat work and fitness will be emphasized.

There will also be a “Learn to Row” program from 10 a.m. to noon, running the same weeks as athletes learn to row in larger boats (8+).
