Home Luge Track Of Ridgefield Olympian Open To Public On Saturday

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- The luge track where Olympian Tucker West of Ridgefield got his start will be open to the public on Saturday, according to a post on the Team Tucker Facebook page.

The track is at the home of West, who represented the United States in the 2014 Winter Olympics. 

The track will open at 9 a.m. and operate until noon. More hours will be added if it is required.  The Facebook post from West's father, Brett, also said: 

  • Visitors should park at Ridgefield Academy, 223 West Mountain Road. 
  • A black shuttle van will transport guests to and from the parking lot and luge track.
  • People who try the luge run must be at least 7 years old.
  • People must have a helmet with a chin strap. Options include a luge helmet, hockey helmet, football helmet, ski helmet, lacrosse helmet or motorcycle helmet. 
  • Thick gloves/mittens, snow pants and thick parka are highly recommended. No knitted mittens/gloves are allowed on the track. Riders need to protect hands from ice. 
  • There will be hot chocolate and coffee .
  • Everything is free as a thank you to Team Tucker supporters.

West will not be at Saturday's event. He is racing on the World Cup circuit in Europe.
