Weston Girls Win Youth Cheerleading National Title

WESTON, Conn. -- The Weston Youth Trojans cheerleading team won first place in the American Youth Football cheerleading competition in Kissimmee, Fla.

Weston won first place in the 13-and-under Small Red Division. The girls scored 80.6, followed by Meriden, Conn. with 73.7. There were 11 teams in the competition. Meriden had defeated Weston in state and regional competitions.

“The Weston girls performed a clean and beautiful routine.  We are so proud,’’ assistant coach Tara Tanzer said via email.

Girls on the team are eighth-graders: Head Captain Emma Hoffman, Co-captain Vivienne Jacobson,  Co-captain Hannah Daniels, Riley Aguas, Caroline Olsen, Alexa Kripke; seventh-graders: Abby Tanzer, Jolie Jeffrey-Craft; and sixth-graders: Natasha Colaprico, Bianca Schwartz, Sophia Bolatescu, Julia Ann Gregory.

Katia Colaprico is the coach, assisted by Janet Hoffman and Tanzer. Kathie Fitzgerald is the group’s vice president of cheer.
