Fairfield American bested Barnstable Tom Wallace American Little League of Massachusetts, 9-0, in Thursday's game. The boys from Fairfield generated 12 hits against the Massachusetts team.
Fairfield American is now just one win away from entering the Little League World Series.
To secure a spot in the Williamsport, Pa., tournament, they must beat Cumberland American Little League of Rhode Island in a game at 7 p.m. Saturday at Breen Field in Bristol.
For fans who can't make it up to Bristol, the New England final will be televised on ESPN.
The game will be a rematch of Tuesday's game, when Fairfield American topped Cumberland American, 5-3, winning on a two-run home run by Jamie Flink.
Fairfield American is seeking its third New England title in five years.
Earlier in the tournament, Fairfield American lost Sunday night to New Hampshire-Goffstown Junior Baseball Little League, 4-2. But Fairfield American topped Williston, Vt., 9-4, on Friday night and followed that up with a 10-0 victory Saturday over Falmouth, Maine.
Westport won the New England title last year, and Connecticut teams have won four of the last six New England titles. American last won in 2012.
Fairfield American swept South Windsor in the best-of-three Connecticut championship series, winning by scores of 10-0 and 12-2.
Fairfield American’s roster is Ian Bentley, Vince Camera, Sam Davenport, PJ Egan, Jamie Flink, Trey Hensel, Brian Howell, Brian Kiremidjian, Connor O'Neill, John Reynolds and Jack Steed. Mike Steed is the manager, assisted by Pete Davenport and Keith Reynolds. Most of the boys were on the American team that won the 11-year-old state championship in 2013.
