Can someone please explain what “common sense gun laws” are and how they will stop the next Adam Lanza? The marcher's anger at senseless violence is focused on the wrong issue. All their marching and demanding changes will not change one thing except the gun laws; and there is already proof that stricter gun laws do nothing to curb these kinds of acts. It is too bad this energy cannot be used to focus on the real problems - mental illness and society's decay - and try to find solutions to effect changes in these areas. I can only assume that all these people truly believe that the only problem is gun ownership - I will never understand that mindset. View Comment

I wonder what will happen as they have some huge salaries and pensions to pay and administrators are getting raises (must be nice, I haven't seen a raise in two years now). But it's all for the kids so let's increase property taxes, after all, we want to support the kids, don't we? I'll chip in more money and more school supplies since they won't be able to afford them. One time I parked my car at the post office door with my young son in a car seat, ran into the front lobby (Glenville PO, 20 feet away), put the mail in the slot and ran back out to find a swaggering police officer who proceeded to give me a hard time and tell me he could arrest me. Don't you guys have more important things to do than harass busy moms? Talking to this woman would have been enough - arresting her and now publically humiliating her, this is way over the line. The issue is not guns, it's the people who get the guns (usually illegally, like the guy who shot the fire fighters). The issues are mental health treaments, disturbed people's right to roam free and violent games/movies. Until those of you screaming about guns come to your senses, the problem will persist and not be addressed.
