Elizabella’s Bake Shop Serves Up Tasty Treats In Ridgefield

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. — In the seven years that Elizabeth Eckardt has lived in Ridgefield, she wore many hats before settling on her chef's toque.

Elizabeth Eckardt has owned and operated Elizabella’s Bake Shop at 13 Bailey Ave. since February 2014.

Eckardt was once a senior executive for Macy’s, but after several years, she decided to pursue a new adventure in baking.

Since February 2014, Eckardt has owned and operated Elizabella’s Bake Shop at 13 Bailey Ave.

When she started baking for her kids, people began to ask why she wasn’t selling her goods. So she decided to go into the baking business, and waited for the perfect spot to open up on Bailey Avenue, where she had long dreamed of opening her bakery.

And since her opening on that cold day a year and a half ago, Eckardt has brought a new meaning to the word "bakery."

The bakery's floral-shaped cookies will make spring come alive as you take a bite and enjoy the sweet sensation from the frosting. If you want more then just a cookie, Eckardt also offers petit fours and macaroons.

The small but colorful shop offers a bedazzling selection of baking products, ingredients as well as goodies. But don’t let the size of the place fool you, Eckardt offers everything imaginable to start your own creations at home.

It's a great place to pick up baking tins, tools, food dye, and even an assortment of teas to go along with your sweet treats.

She also likes to give back to her community.  Eckardt has also made cookies for Ridgefield Library’s one-year celebration, for the breast cancer awareness event in Westport this past year and for other charitable events in the area.

During summer, the bakery's most popular cookies are chocolate chip, lemon and lime. During the fall, the cinnamon bun and almond cloud are the favorites. She enjoys a busy customer base in town.

“When you deliver your promise to the townspeople, they have been the most supportive,” Eckardt said. During Christmas, the shop was unexpectedly busy but still enjoyed the season. “We have the nicest people," she said of her customers.

Elizabella’s Bake Shop at 13 Bailey Ave. is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays. For more information, call 203-431-7949 or visit its website
