Bridgeport Holds First-Ever Crawl-o-ween Event

BRIDGEPORT, Conn -- Let the kids trick or treat. For the adults, downtown Bridgeport will be turned into Crawl-O-Ween from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, when folks are encouraged to eat, drink and be scary.

The pub crawl starts at the Martini Bar at the Holiday Inn before moving onto The Bijou Theatre, A Vucchella, B:Hive Bridgeport, the Bijou Square Wine Shop, The Barnum Public House, with an after (life) party at Tiago's complete with a DJ, food,and drink specials. Costumes are encouraged with prizes awarded at the end of the night. There is no cost to join the crawl, although drink and food specials range from $3 and up at each venue.

“Partnering with our neighbors has always been an important mission for us at B:Hive," said Marcella Kovac, one of the founders of the event and a co-owner of B:Hive, the share-work space alternative on Fairfield Avenue. "When we bond together to spread the sense of community throughout the downtown Bridgeport area, it’s always very rewarding." 

Also heavily involved in spearheading the event: Kerry Wood from the Downtown Special Services District. According to Wood, a similar pub crawl was held as part of last summer's Barnum Festival and was so successful, the DSSD and others wanted to expand it to a stand-alone event for fall.

Specifics at each venue follows; attendees are urged to check in at each venue to be entered for the raffle.The last check in time is at 8 p.m.

  • Holiday Inn: $3 sangria, $5 themed martini
  • The Bijou Theatre: $6 Bijou special drink
  • B:Hive: Samples of craft cocktails
  • Bijou Wine: Samples of fall liquors
  • A'vucchella: $6 Aperol Spritzer, $5 tomato and mozarella panini
  • Barnum: Pumpkin Pie Martini $5, Bud Light bottles $4
  • Tiago’s: $5 mixed drinks, $5 wine, $4 beers
