New Canaan Boys 4th at Indoor Track Championships

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – New Canaan High’s boys finished fourth while the girls took 11th on Thursday at the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference track and field indoor championships at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.

New Canaan’s boys had several terrific individual performances. Winners for the Rams in individual events include Max Wilson in the high jump and Rami Hamdan in the shot put. New Canaan also won the sprint medley relay with George Bennett, Austin Deery, Henson Orser and Alex Spinu.

Devaun Bovell (third, 55 hurdles), Spinu (fourth, 1,000) and Kyle McEeaney (fifth, long jump) were other key performers for the Rams.

For the girls, Stephanie Benko finished second in the 3,200 in 11:38.34. New Canaan was fourth in the 4 x 800 relay, Isabel Hetherington took fifth in the 1,600, Alexis Najarian was sixth in the high jump and Isabelle Herde was sixth in the shot put. Complete results are available online.
