The free hikes are for adults, but a spot must be reserved. To make reservation, call 203-331-1906 with your name, the date(s), and number in your party. There is a 30-person maximum per hike except where noted.
If your unsure of weather, call the morning of hike for status; there are no rain dates. Don't forget to wear appropriate clothes, shoes and bring a water bottle. All hikes easy to moderately difficult.

Shore birds @ Great Salt Marsh Island / Ash Creek
When: Aug. 21 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Where: Gilman Avenue by the sandbar in Bridgeport
Walk: Bring your binoculars to this exciting event. Milan Bull, an expert from Connecticut Audubon will lead the discussion while you view the abundant birds (osprey, shorebirds and ducks) in the beautiful Ash Creek area. Learn about the different species as well as the conservation importance of this natural salt marsh.
Park: Park on Gilman Avenue near St. Mary's by the Sea, Bridgeport.

Wild mushrooms @ Trout Brook Valley
When: Sept. 15 from 9:30 a.m. to noon.
Where: Bradley Road entrance to Trout Brook Valley, Weston.
Walk: "The Good, the Bad, and the Yummy!" Join our Mycology walk in Trout Brook Valley led by enthusiast and photographer Dianna Smith, president of the Connecticut-Westchester Mycological Society.
Park: Trout Brook Valley parking on Bradley Road, Weston.

Hawk walk @ Trout Brook Valley Orchard
When: Sept. 21 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Where: Route 58 (Black Rock Turnpike) past Bluebird Restaurant to Freeborn Road. Turn left on Freedborn. When woods stop of left look to right, there will be a dirt road through the woods. Drive into this road to blueberry bushes.
Walk: Land trust members are invited to join local hawk-bander, Larry Fischer for a special hawk walk in the orchard. Trout Brook Valley fields are an important habitat for hawks flying down the east coast flyway zone.
Park: Trout Brook Valley Orchard, Easton - see above directions.

The Aspetuck Land Trust, founded in 1966, is a nonprofit membership organization whose mission is the preservation and conservation of open space, including farm and forest land, and the natural resources located, primarily in the towns of Easton, Weston, Fairfield and Westport, for the benefit and education of the public.
It also provides passive recreation and educational opportunities for people to learn about and enjoy nature, while preserving the flora and fauna and rural characteristics of these towns. It maintains 44 trailed nature preserves and other conservation-only properties on more than 1,700 acres.
