Two Injured in Late-Night Mamaroneck Car Crash

MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- An early morning car accident on Weaver Street April 2 sent two victims to the hospital and another driver running for the woods, police said.

An unknown male suspect driving a 2002 Chrysler ran a stop sign around 1:01 a.m. then crashed into the passenger side of a 2005 Honda driving north on Weaver Street, police said. The suspect then reportedly left their car unattended and ran away into the woods.

Police later found an empty 22-ounce bottle of Old English malt liquor in the central console of the suspect's car.

The other driver, a Rhode Island woman, 22, and the passenger, a Yonkers man, 54, sustained minor injuries to the head and shoulder respectively, and were taken to Sound Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle, police said. Both were conscious.
