WESTON, Conn. -- Happy Birthday To Redding’s Dick Morris.
Dick Morris, who has owned a home in Redding, turns 65 on Thursday. The political author and commentator was born Nov. 28, 1948, in New York City, N.Y.
Morris started his career as a Republican strategist. He first worked with Bill and Hillary Clinton during Bill Clinton's successful 1978 bid for Governor of Arkansas and became a political adviser to the White House after Clinton was elected president in 1992.
He joined the Bill Clinton’s administration, where he helped Clinton recover from the 1994 midterm elections by advising the President to adopt more moderate policies.
Morris went on to become campaign manager of Bill Clinton's successful 1996 bid for re-election to the office of President.
Morris has consulted for candidates in other countries of the western hemisphere, including the campaigns of Fernando de la Rua for President of Argentina (1999), Jorge Batlle for President of Uruguay (1999), Vicente Fox for President of Mexico (2000), and Raphael Trotman for President of Guyana (2006).
Morris has written several books like Condi vs. Hillary, Rewriting History, Behind the Oval Office, Fleeced (2008) and Screwed (2012).
In March 2010, About.com, owned by The New York Times Company, named Morris one of the top 20 conservatives to follow on Twitter.
Morris was the strategist for Republican Christy Mihos's campaign in the 2010 Massachusetts gubernatorial race and supported Mitt Romney in 2012.
He now writes a weekly column in The Hill for the New York Post and regularly appeared on the Fox News, The O'Reilly Factor and Hannity for political commentary.
