Bridgeport Cocaine Trafficker Gets 10 Years In Federal Prison

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A 39-year-old Bridgeport man will serve 10 years in federal prison for trafficking cocaine in his hometown as part of a violent street gang, according to U.S. Attorney Deirdre Daly.

On Tuesday, May 19, Damont "Monty" Gee was also sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge Janet C. Hall in New Haven to five years of supervised release.

This case stems from “Operation Slim Fast,” a joint law enforcement investigation that focused on two drug trafficking organizations, one that operated out of Bridgeport and another that operated out of Bridgeport, Puerto Rico, and Springfield, Mass.

In 2010, members of the FBI’s Bridgeport Safe Streets Task Force began investigating narcotics trafficking activity in and around the Marina Village Housing Complex in Bridgeport. It focused primarily on the Marina Village Bloods, a violent narcotics trafficking organization that has been responsible for, or connected to, multiple shootings in Bridgeport.

Members of the Sex, Money, Murder set of the Marina Village Bloods, sold large quantities of narcotics from an abandoned residence at 105/107 Johnson St., which is located across from the street from the Marina Village Housing Complex.

Gee was believed to have been a member, or close associate, of the Marina Village Bloods, until his brother, Richard Gee, was killed in a gun battle across the street from 105/107 Johnson St. on July 17, 2010.

Between September and November 2010, the Task Force made five purchases of a total of 449 grams of cocaine from Gee. Intercepted calls and surveillance confirmed that he was the source of supply of cocaine for several street-level dealers and customers in the Bridgeport area.

Gee was arrested Jan. 4, 2011, after he and an associate traveled to Hartford to purchase 4 kilograms of cocaine.  Task Force officers seized the cocaine, as well as more than $100,000 in cash from Gee and his associate.

Gee has been detained since his arrest. On June 6, 2013, he pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine.

As a result of this investigation, 19 individuals were charged with narcotics and firearms related offenses, and law enforcement officers seized 4 kilograms of cocaine, 1 kilogram of crack cocaine, a quantity of heroin, an SKS assault rifle, five handguns and more than $150,000 in cash.
