The Census Bureau released estimates of town populations for 2012, based on births, deaths and migration figures. All three towns and the surrounding region all showed growth since the last official census in 2010.
Of the three, Weston showed the most total growth, adding an estimated 153 people since 2010 for a total population of 10,350. Its 1.50 percent change was also the largest among the three towns.
Redding was next in terms of increase, adding 125 people (1.36 percent) to come to a total of 9,299. Easton added 98 people to reach 7,603 in total, a 1.31 percent climb from 2010.
All three towns were slightly behind the countywide average. Fairfield County has added more than 15,000 people in the last two years, according to the Census Bureau. Its 1.63 percent overall increase was the fastest growth in Connecticut over the two-year span.
“We are on a strong course,” said Lisa Mercurio of the Business Council of Fairfield County, referring to the whole county. “You don’t want to see people moving from the region.”
Mercurio, who works as the director of Fairfield County Information Exchange for the business council and tracks population information, added that the county’s population increase is in line with where it has been, and where a UConn database projects the population to be by 2025.
According to the database, the population will increase anywhere from about 1 percent to 8 percent depending on the fertility level.
